Funding

There are a number of possible funding streams available to support research projects investigating experiential learning, to support events sharing resources and findings, or to evaluate and refine experiential learning activities. Please see also see the News and Events page for news of current funding calls that might also be relevant.

IAD Action Fund

The IAD Action Fund is suitable for staff or students. Small grants of up to £500 are available to help support academic networks or community events, to test innovative ideas for professional or academic development activities, run creative learning events (such as a small Festival of Creative Learning pop-up event), or to experiment with novel event formats aimed at an academic audience. Larger events or initiatives can be supported by an IAD regular grant of up to £3,000.

Principal’s Teaching Award Scheme

The Principals Teaching Award Scheme (PTAS) provides small grant funding for projects designed to enhance learning and teaching at the University of Edinburgh. Any member of staff with a teaching, learning or support role can apply, and applications that involve students in the collaborative team are particularly welcomed. Additional support and advice on creating a bid can be obtained from the IAD.

Community Grants

The department of Social Responsibility and Sustainability manages the Edinburgh Local Community Grants scheme, which supports the development of projects, community activities and sustainable local action. Applications should involve and benefit people living and/or working in the Edinburgh City Region.

We welcome applications for projects or activities that will involve and benefit people living and/or working in the Edinburgh City Region. (The Region includes the City of Edinburgh, Fife, West Lothian, Midlothian, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders). The grants scheme is currently closed for applications but will open again on October 4th, 2018.

Festival of Creative Learning

The Festival of Creative Learning is a year-long festival exploring creative learning and innovation across the University of Edinburgh. Both staff and students are invited to apply to run events with the Festival. Over the years this has been an opportunity for staff and students to design, deliver and partake in a broad range of experiential learning activities.
